FAQ
Common questions about Olive.
What can I actually buy on Olive?
Two things: a Long Call or a Long Put on a supported market. Both are bought, not sold. There are no spreads, covered calls, or multi-leg structures. See Products.
Do I need to be an options trader to use Olive?
It helps. Olive keeps strike, expiry, breakeven, and payoff visible rather than hiding them behind goal-shaped language. But the ticket itself is money-first: you choose what to spend, and Olive derives the size.
What does a position settle in, and on which chain?
Olive runs on Solana. A Long Put settles in canonical USDC. A Long Call settles in the market's registered call token — the tokenized form of the underlying — not in dollars. The ticket shows which token before you sign.
Do I need SOL to trade?
No. Olive sponsors the network fee and account rent for supported actions. You do need USDC in your active Solana wallet to pay the premium.
Do I need a wallet extension?
No. Logging in with an email address creates an embedded Solana wallet for you. You can also link an external wallet, or log in with one where the deployment enables it. See Account & fees.
Can Olive liquidate my position early?
No. Olive positions are European and settle at maturity. There is no Olive margin call or forced liquidation of the position itself.
Can Olive move my position without me?
No. There is no delegated Olive signer for entry, exit, or transfer. Recording the settlement price and redeeming a settled position are permissionless because the program fixes who receives the payout — it can only go to the recorded holder.
Can I sell before maturity?
Sometimes. You can request a firm buyback quote from the original maker, paid in USDC, but it is not guaranteed. If the maker does not quote, you hold to maturity.
Why did my firm quote expire?
Firm quotes bind only for a short validity window that the program enforces on-chain — at most 60 seconds in the current configuration. If yours lapses, request a fresh one. Nothing is committed until you sign.
What happens at maturity if I am offline?
Nothing is required of you. A keeper records the settlement price, and redemption is permissionless, so the payout is released to the recorded holder.
What does "credit-backed" mean on my position?
It means part of the maker's maximum payout for that maturity is not yet deposited on-chain. It must be fully funded before the funding deadline — currently 72 hours before maturity — and nothing in that bucket can settle until it is. See Collateral & funding.
Why does Portfolio show a model mark?
The mark helps you monitor open P/L, but it is not a firm bid. A real early-exit price comes only from a maker buyback quote.
What is the Position address?
It is the base58 address of the program-owned Position PDA holding the accepted terms and current owner. Olive does not mint an NFT or an ERC-1155-style receipt token.
Is this real money?
Not yet. Olive's closed beta runs on Solana devnet with devnet tokens that have no value.
Is this investment advice?
No. See Risk & disclosures.
